Using Diana

Help

Everything here is also in the glasses: open the hand menu and choose Help: signs + speech.

Getting started

  1. Put the glasses on and launch Diana. She starts listening and shows a single mark at the edge of your view.
  2. Just talk. There is no wake word and no button to hold. Speak the way you would to a person.
  3. Open the hand menu to reach controls, your notes, help and settings.
  4. Grant only what you want. Decline a permission and the skills that need it will tell you they cannot help — nothing else breaks.

What she answers without the network

These are computed on the glasses. They are exact, they cost nothing, and they keep working when the connection is poor — which is precisely when you tend to ask them.

  • what's 12 times 8?
  • convert 5 miles to kilometres
  • count from 1 to 20 by 2
  • spell the word rhythm
  • what time is it?
  • what's my battery?
  • turn the volume up
  • set a timer for 10 minutes
  • remind me in 5 minutes to stretch
  • will this work right now
  • what can I say
  • what can my hand do

What she needs a connection for

  • what's the weather?
  • where am I?
  • find coffee near me
  • search the web for otters
  • what do you see?
  • read my screen
  • how do I make a negroni?
  • play some jazz
  • tell me about Fukuoka

When the link is down, Diana says so rather than guessing. If she ever answers something she could not actually check, that is a bug — please report it.

Notes and reminders

Say "take a note…" or "remember that I like green tea" and Diana writes it to the glasses. Open View notes in the hand menu to read them back — no account, no cable, no sign-in.

Reminders further than a day out ring with the device's own alarm tone and survive a reboot, so they still reach you if Diana is not running.

Hand signs

Signs let you answer without speaking — useful in a quiet room or on a street. Hold each shape steady for a moment; the help card shows a live counter as she recognises it. Hand tracking is processed on the glasses and is not sent anywhere.

What you wantHow
Open or close the controlsThe menu sign
Show this helpThe H sign
Mute or unmute herThe mic sign
Take a shotThe shoot sign
Close or dismiss a cardThe back sign

Silent mode

Silent mode turns Diana into a typed conversation: she stops speaking aloud and you type instead. It is the right mode for a train, a meeting, or anywhere you would rather not be heard talking to your glasses.

Troubleshooting

What you seeWhat it means
OfflineNo usable connection. Local skills still work; ask her "will this work right now".
Not responding — reconnectingThe link stalled and she is re-establishing it. This is common when the device is hot and Wi-Fi throttles.
She hears nothingThe microphone may be muted — check the mic line in the hand menu.
She cannot seeThe camera permission was declined, or the camera is off in the menu.
She will not read your screenThe accessibility service is off by default. Switch it on in Android settings → Accessibility.
She gets slow and warmThe device is thermally throttled. Performance recovers as it cools; charging while running makes it worse.

Languages

Diana answers in the language you speak to her, and you can lock her to one language from the hand menu. Japanese is a launch focus; the interface is being translated with native review, so parts of the chrome may still appear in English while that review completes.
